On a day that is centered almost entirely around eating, some East Texans headed out for a little run early this morning. A couple of hundred people came out to the 4th Annual Premier Fitness Turkey Trot.
Runners of all ages took part in the 3.2 mile jog. Some of the littlest athletes were riding piggy back, while others were pushed by mom and dad. Then there was one little one, who decided she wanted to try it all by herself. No matter the age, everyone thought it was a great way to get going this morning.
Diane Capper ran in the trot and says, "Well, we're here for a family reunion, and I thought it would be a good form of exercise. I usually walk in the morning so, a couple of us are running and a couple of us are walking."
For Niki Swearingen, the run was no big deal.
She says, "I run marathons. I'm training for a 50 miler race in December."
There was no entry fee for the run, but donations were being taken for the Boys and Girls Club.
