A thanksgiving tradition for many East Texans -- waiting in lines.  Not for shopping early Friday morning, but to get that perfect bird for the table.

Tuesday, the line outside Tyler's Greenberg Turkey was as long as ever.  The famous smoked turkey always brings out the crowds, with the company seeing even more business after Oprah named Greenberg Turkeys one of her "favorite things" back in 2003.

But just waiting in line and talking with friends is another tradition for some.

"We've come for years. We've come and bought Greenberg Turkeys, and we had nice people around us to chat with and we had hot dogs and soft drinks," said turkey buyer Tonya Skrocki.

"This is our second largest [sales period] of the year, and this is a prelude to Christmas and what our Christmas sales will be like and it looks like it'll be terrific," says owner Sam Greenberg.

"My family couldn't do without a Greenberg turkey on turkey day! They're just good," says buyer Gary Osburn.

Greenberg sells 200,000 turkeys a year. Ninety percent of those are shipped outside of East Texas.
