A Better East Texas: Irresponsible Parents

Another case of stupid adults out of control was on display last week when a parent attacked a referee at a peewee football game.

I want you to take a moment to think about what the children who witnessed this learned from this incident

First of all we told them violence solves problems

Second, you don't have to respect the rules

And perhaps the worst of all you don't have to respect anyone in a position of authority.

Just think about the implications that can have when they enter the WORKPLACE.

And the sad part is these incidents are on the rise in this country. So what's a responsible parent supposed to do?

Well you can prepare your children in the event they come face to face with this idiocy. Explain to them that it is wrong. Adults who act out inappropriately either have emotional problems or haven't matured beyond a screaming baby in a playpen. If your children know this in advance they'll be better prepared for it.

Next, give the offending "grown up" a legal butt kicking. I'm usually not one to recommend civil lawsuits but an exception needs to be made when an adult acts solely to physically harm others, in front of children. And I'm afraid CRIMINAL law just isn't painful enough. Out of control adults need to understand they are going to feel a lot of pain from a lot of different directions.

Unfortunately our society is placing more and more burden on RESPONSIBLE adults to raise other people's children. That responsibility now seems to extend to raising adults who evidently didn't have the benefit of being taught right from wrong.

Taking responsibility. Just another way we can make this a better east Texas.
