LEDCO Plans New Business Park

A proposed business park will mean more jobs and sales tax for the city of Longview.   LEDCO has announced plans to purchase a plot of land between Judson and McCann roads, north of the city limits.

In the coming months, LEDCO will be looking over the 705 acres. They hope to bring in "light industry" companies like call and distribution centers. The price comes out to nearly 3.4 million dollars, but LEDCO says having the land for future businesses is worth it.

"Right now Longview's had a lot of growth over the last few years and we have very little land left for future development so what we're trying to do is think a few years a head and go ahead and have some land that can be used in the future," says John Stroud, Executive Director of the Longview Economic Development Corporation.

LEDCO says construction will be done in different phases with Phase I starting in 2008.

The Texas Department of Transportation is looking to help make traveling easier for travelers in Tyler.
