East Texans, You Can Recycle Your Old Electronics

Ever wonder what to do with your old computers or televisions? They can actually be recycled. That's why, through Saturday, the city of Longview will be accepting electronics, like computer monitors, VCR's, TV's, and telephones, but they will not be accepting household appliances.

The city says it's all in an effort to reuse parts and save landfill space. Citizens say it's a great way to be environmentally friendly, while also getting rid of junk like their old computers.

"We have been told that it's not a good idea to take them to the landfill and we didn't have a place to take them so we've had them at home for quite for a while, so we saw that in the paper about the recycling day, I thought that was a great idea," says Pat Sommerhalder, who dropped off several computers and monitors.

Again the event is going on through Saturday from 8am to 4pm each day. The drop off will be in the parking lot of Longview's Library on Cotton Street.
