Goodyear And Union Back To Bargaining

Goodyear and the United Steelworkers Union were back at the bargaining table today, but so far, no deal has been reached.

The strike has been largely attributed to the fact that Goodyear wants to shut plants down, specifically, the Tyler plant.

According to union officials, plant security is still a major focus.

The union says there are a number of other unresolved issues with Goodyear's latest offer. One of those issues has to do with retiree healthcare.

The union says the latest proposal would take 500 million dollars in benefits away from retirees. They made a counterproposal which would have active workers contributing portions of their profit sharing to an accout for cost of living adjustments.
