A former East Texas police chief is set to go before a judge Tuesday morning.   Former Troup Police chief Chester Kennedy is charged with four counts of tampering with evidence and one count of theft.

The 59-year-old was arrested in March.  Court officials say the bench trial is expected to last until Thursday. Former Troup Police officer Samuel Mark Turner was also arrested with Kennedy. Turner pleaded guilty to "tampering with evidence" and is set be sentenced in December.
