Dana Corp. Announces It's Closing 8 Plants

Dana Corporation has announced it's closing eight plants around the nation, no word yet if the Longview plant will be among them.

Their CEO released a statement saying, "we have been evaluating what we produce and where we manufacture and assemble our products to determine how to be most efficient...clearly many of these actions will cause pain and concern for many of our people...but we simply have no choice."

Dana corporation's facility in Longview is the sole supplier of Colorado, Canyon, and Hummer H3 frames to General Motors' Shreveport plant.

LEDCO's Executive Director, John Stroud, says he's confident our local company will not shut down.

"I don't see that there's going to be any problem with this plant staying open in the future. This is one of the most productive plants in the Dana system and they have some outstanding employees here so I don't have any concern about this plant closing at this time. I think it will continue to operate here for many, many years," he says.

Dana Corporation filed for bankruptcy back in March and has since been downsizing its operations.
