East Texas Students Get A Lesson In Film-Making

East Texas may have some future film-makers in the bunch after Tuesday. That's because some middle schoolers got a lesson in movie making from a professional.

The producer of the movie "Agenda," filmed right here in East Texas, stopped by Judson Middle School in Longview. He taught the kids what goes into producing a movie and the students even got to role-play different jobs like director or actor.

"Agenda" Producer Shawn Griffith says, "you find the one or two kids and you'll see the spark and you'll recognize them, the kids that are just 'Okay, this is clicking, this is what I want to do' and this is where to start forming those molds."

"Movie-making is pretty complicated, but I think it would be pretty fun because it's just got so much stuff, it's got a lot of technology and stuff that you'll be able to try to figure out," says seventh-grader Ashton Alphonse.

The students also made a "flip film" with Polaroids and they got to take a disposable camera home to make their own "flip movie." The class will even have a "flip film festival" to judge the best home-made movies.
