Miranda Lambert Performs On C.M.A. Awards

You can bet everyone in Lindale was watching to see if their hometown girl would come back with an award. More than a dozen businesses placed banners wishing Miranda Lambert luck during tonight's C.M.A. Awards.

Miranda grabbed the spotlight during tonight's Country Music Awards.  She performed the first single from her next album, which is due out next year.   Miranda was up for two C.M.A. Awards, an honor her grandmother finds surreal. "Sometimes I think, 'Is this a dream?'", said Wanda Coker, Miranda's grandmother.   "Then other times I think it's just Miranda. It doesn't seem real sometimes that she's accomplished all this."

"It is exciting for a small town to have someone famous coming through and eating at our restaurant. We have pictures of her there. We wanted to make sure she knew we supported her," said Sandra Murray.

Miranda was nominated for the Horizon award, which is an award for newcomers.  Other nominees included Josh Turner and American Idol winner Carrie Underwood. "She's a great artist as well, but I think it's time for Miranda to get the attention," said Amanda Froebe.

As for Miranda's biggest fans, her parents, they were right along her side tonight in Nashville. "I'm actually not only getting to see my child's dream, she's actually having me be a part of it," said Bev Lambert, Miranda's mother, via telephone from Nashville.

Miranda will get to perform at the American Airlines Arena in Dallas Friday, which also happens to be her 23rd birthday. Miranda will perform at the Oil Palace in Tyler on Thursday. Tickets are still available.
