Drug Warrant Roundup Puts 25 Behind Bars

"Operation Trick or Treat" that's what Harrison County officials called Tuesday morning's drug warrant roundup. About 30 Marshall police officers and Harrison County Narcotics team members attempted to arrest 33 people suspected of dealing meth and cocaine throughout the county.

Investigators say 25 were arrested, including some at local motels--the Budget Inn on South 59, the Relax Inn and the Burnett Motel, both on Pinecrest Road in Marshall.

There are warrants out for eight others, but say they hope these arrests will put a dent in drug-trafficking.

"Without an effort on all law enforcements which we had in this case, it makes it difficult to try and curb narcotics distribution. I don't know if we can say that we'll win based on these arrests, but hopefully it slows it down, if not stops it for a period of time," says Joe Black, the Harrison County District Attorney.

County officials say the warrant roundup was the end of a year-long investigation by undercover officers and informants to get the criminals behind bars.
