KLTV 7 Sports Spotters Report: Spring Hill

The Spring Hill Panthers extended their winning streak to three games with a 41-7 win over the Sabine Cardinals last Friday. After a rocky start, the Panthers dominated the game, with an even 300 yards of total offense, getting 169 on the ground and 131 through the air.  Quarterback Chris Lee was 7-of-15 for 113 yards with two touchdowns and an interception. Michael Secord came on in the fourth quarter and completed his only pass for 18 yards. Scott Powell led the Panther receiving corps with three receptions for 49 yards and Max Garcia led the ground attack running for 81 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Spring Hill's defense allowed Sabine only 158 yards and nine first downs, five of those coming on the Cardinals' final drive. The win gives the Panthers an undefeated record in district ( 3-0 ).

Jake Fudge, who has been the primary tailback since the loss of Demikel Shankle went down midway through the first quarter with an injured ankle, and could likely miss the rest of the season. Defensive tackle Rance Thomas injured an arm but should be okay to play Friday night.

The Panthers will travel to Gilmer this week to face the unbeaten, state-ranked Buckeyes. With Jake Fudge out, Spring Hill will need Max Garcia to have an exceptional game, as well as Chris Lee, who is starting to become a very good quarterback for the Panthers. The game is set for 7:30 Friday night in Gilmer.
