Community Hopes To Get Officer on TV

He was an officer that helped so many and now his community is hoping to help him, once again. Lieutenant Rickey Turner of the Henderson Police Department was paralyzed in a car crash nearly two months ago while responding to a drunk driver. From the moment it happened, community members started pouring out help, including a motorcycle benefit ride that raised thousands of dollars.

Now, the community wants to help even more by starting a petition drive to get Turner and his family featured on ABC's "Extreme Makeover Home Edition."

Organizers say Turner's house cannot handle his wheelchair and other specialized equipment.

A thousand signatures are needed before Wednesday in order to qualify. If you would like to sign the petition, you can do so at the Henderson Police Department, the Henderson Daily News, the Rusk County Courthouse, and the Henderson Memorial Hospital.
