Native Texan Shares Story Of Surviving Terrorist Attack

She's a native Texan who made national headlines when her mission group was attacked in Iraq, leaving her the lone survivor.

Carrie McDonnall shared her inspirational story to Tyler women Friday. The Christian Women's Job Corp of Tyler invited McDonnall to speak.

She told the group what helped her overcome that fateful day in 2004, when three of her co-workers and her husband David were among the dead in the attack.

"I couldn't rely on my parents, I couldn't rely on my friends, I had to go straight to my God and my Savior," says McDonnall to the crowd. "I wanted them to know that no matter what they go through that God will be there, that He's the god of all grace and comfort and will get you through."

Carrie underwent multiple surgeries before making a full recovery.

She has written a book on her story called "Facing Terror."
