Pine Tree Residents Can Vote On Bond Proposal

Voters in the Pine Tree School District in Longview will be casting two ballots this election. One of the votes is a 7 million dollar bond proposal that will pay for a new multi-purpose gym facility at the high school.

School officials say the current gym was built almost 40 years ago, plus, it's just not big enough.

"Currently when our ninth graders move over to the high school, we're going to add a little over 400 students and our current gymnasium or where we can assemble students will only hold about a thousand and this facility will allow for that additional space," says Lynn Whitaker, Pine Tree ISD Superintendent.

The average homeowner in the Pine Tree school district will pay an additional 24 dollars a year if the bond proposal passes.
