Yamboree Big Hit With East Texans

The 69th annual "East Texas Yamboree" wrapped up Saturday.  It's Gilmer's week-long ode to the sweet potato. And this year's Queen Yam Parade certainly did not disappoint.  Hundreds of East Texans watched as marching bands, colorful floats, and antique cars made their way through town.  The most popular attraction was of course Miss Queen Yam herself, as she waved to on-lookers.

Those who came say each year the Yamboree and parade get better.  "We came about six years ago and it was really nice a lot of activity lots of arts and crafts, lots of fun people and great food," said Cheryl Seaman.

Some other popular attractions at this year's Yamboree included the yam-pie contest and the Barndance.
