Volunteers Clean Up Highway 80

In honor of national "Make A Difference Day" some East Texans rolled up their sleeves and helped clean up their city. Dozens of volunteers, along with "Keep Longview Beautiful," worked on a section of Highway 80, coming into Longview from White Oak.

They bagged up trash and leaves and cut weeds along the sidewalks. Volunteers say it's important to keep Highway 80 clean because it's a major thoroughfare into the city.

"When people come into our city, they come in at some point they cross Highway 80 so I think it's a great place to start.  It's important.  It attracts other businesses in, people coming in to visit Longview,"  said volunteerScott Polk.

If you'd like to help keep Highway 80 clean, you can do so through Longview's "Adopt-A-Street" program.
