East Texans Enjoy Rose Festival Parade

Thousands of East Texans were up early this morning, hoping to get a good seat for the Rose Festival parade.   Participants enjoyed listening to marching bands and watching elaborate floats go by. This year, Governor Rick Perry and the first lady were also in the parade.

Those who showed up this morning say the event has become a regular part of their fall schedule.  "We come every year because we have grown up with fond memories of the Rose Festival," said parade spectator Mary McGalun.

"I come out for the students. I am an educator so I come out to support the students.  I try and get on the front row so I can wave at them when they come through," said participant Onella Brown.

The floats were decorated from top to bottom in the spirit of this year's Rose Festival theme "Mythology An Enchanted Odyssey."
