Former Jacksonville Pastor Accused Of Possession Of Child Porn

KLTV 7 News has learned new details tonight about an East Texas pastor facing a complaint of child pornography.   Joshua Allen, 23, was a pastor at Tyler Street Baptist Church in Jacksonville for two years. Before that, he was an associate pastor there.   Allen was taken into custody in Jacksonville this afternoon by a special task force.

Authorities say investigators interviewed Allen a few weeks ago and seized his computer. The details of what was found and what Allen said are not known. The information is "sealed" at this time.

After his arrest, Allen was then transported to Federal Court in Tyler. During the "initial hearing", Allen was told about the complaint alleging possession, receipt and distribution of child pornography.

KLTV 7 News spoke with a teenage girl this evening that has attended church camp with Allen. She says she never expected something like this from him. "He would come over and he'd be like, 'Why don't you guys come to vacation Bible school and see?'  So we went," said Piscilla Rios, 15, who first met Allen last year during church camp.  "There was nothing to him, scary or anything, like we would think of him like that."

Allen has not been charged. But he is being held at  the Smith County Jail as a federal prisoner until another hearing in Federal Court on Thursday.
