Children's Organ Transplant Association Holds Fundraiser

A fundraising kick-off drive was held in Longview today, in an effort to help a little girl. The event was held at Oakland Heights Life Center in honor of Ashley Adams. The one-year-old was diagnosed with short bowel syndrome and liver failure. She has had a liver, pancreas and small intestine transplant.

Today's effort was organized by the Children's Organ Transplant Association to raise money and awareness for recipients. "Ashley needs our help and so does her family, and then also to raise awareness of Ashley's campaign and also donor information and information about C.O.T.A.," said Children's Organ Transplant Association regional director Stephanie Atkins.

Organizers say an estimated $55,000 needs to be raised by volunteers to help Ashley's family.
