Whitehouse Wildcats Roaring With Pride

The two words to best describe the Red Zone Game of the Week: sold out.

District rivals Jacksonville and Whitehouse attracted a record crowd and for good reason. Last week, Jacksonville defeated the team considered the one of the best in 4A in the Marshall Maverick. Whitehouse defeated the power known as the Kilgore Bulldogs.

For homecoming, Wildcat pride was at an all time high.

"Homecoming is usually intense but not this intense," Lesa Hale, a Whitehouse cheerleader's mother. "I think after the win last week we brought a lot of attention."

"Whitehouse has never been this excited about anything," defensive lineman Brad Wallace said.

"It's nice to see a student body excited about a football team and where it is going and it's been a long time in Whitehouse being this way," Head Coach Randy McFarlin said.

"It's the biggest game of my life so far," Wallace said.

"Everyone thinks we're not a good team," Chad Emmons said, "and we just finally went out and proved ourselves that we are a team to be reckoned with."

One week after the upset heard round the state, the Wildcats prepared for their second district and everyone hoped to grab a seat. Only problem, by Friday afternoon, tickets were no where to be found.

"We sold out about 10 this morning," Coach McFarlin.

"I don't have a ticket," Lesa Hale said. "I'm going to have to sit on the visitor side but that's okay."

"We've never had this problem," Julie Lowder. "I think it's because the team is doing really well this year."

The tickets are so hot because Whitehouse is red hot. Three-and-one overall, 1-0  in district. The winner of the game with Jacksonville would be a definite front runner for the playoffs as well as district champion.

Don't shoot the messenger, argue with Jason Stark. The ESPN reporter released a reason for each MLB team on Tuesday explaining why they won't win the World Series. You might argue with Stark, but his point is pretty valid when it comes to the Rangers.
