Longview Schools Celebrate High Achievements

Four Longview schools celebrated their high achievements today at the "Believe in Excellence" ceremonies. This afternoon students cheered at Valley View Elementary School. It was a celebration of sorts after their school received a "Recognized" rating for their TAKS tests from the Texas Education Agency.

School administrators gave the students a Recognized banner in honor of their achievements. "That means that we are the second highest in the state according to TEA when you rate the schools, and we are really, really excited about that.  And next year, we're looking forward to Exemplary where we have 90 percent of our students passing the TAKS test," says Valley View Principal Linda Lister.

The other schools celebrating were McQueen Primary, and Mozelle Johnston Elementary. Those schools were also given "Recognized" ratings. Hudson PEP received an "Exemplary" rating.
