Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Killing Girlfriend

A Tyler man is sentenced to life in prison after he pleads guilty to killing his girlfriend.  Terry Brown Jr., 25, waived his right to a jury trial, then plead guilty to murder.

Back in December, the body of Crystal Sims was found a half mile off F.M. 344 near Bullard City limits. A smith County resident and her son discovered the woman's body on their property.

Today, Sims' mother, Liz Kilcrease, had the chance to address her daughter's killer after he was sentenced. "The one thing that is always going to haunt me, and it's always going to haunt me until the day I die, is that whenever I asked her to leave you she said, 'But, momma, I love him.'  So that's something you need to remember for the rest of your life. She loved you and you killed her," said Kilcrease.

Brown will be eligible for parole in 30 years. Because of Brown's plea, anyone in Smith County summoned for district court jury duty on October 12th is dismissed.
