"Coats For Kids" Drive Just Days Away

Members of P.A.T.H. (People Attempting To Help) and other sponsors officially announced the start of the Coat For Kids effort this year.

The goal for 2006 is to collect at least 3,000 coats!

"There are so many children in Smith County struggling with poverty and we don't even know it. They're going to come to school cold, wait for the bus cold. And I hate for that to be the case for any of these students," says Martha Kerns, Director of Special Projects for P.A.T.H.

You can donate coats October 1-31.

P.A.T.H. is looking for new or gently used coats for kids ages infant to 18-years-old.

The participating dry cleaners, where you can off donations, include Eagle, Quality Cleaners, Regency Cleaners, Shannon's, Silverado $1.50, Fites, The Cleaning Company, Dry Clean Super Center and Lindale Quality Cleaners.

You can also drop off coats right here at the KLTV 7 offices on West Ferguson Street. Or you can leave your donations at the P.A.T.H. office on West Front Street.

Coats will be distributed in November. Any child is eligible, parents just need to bring their child's photo ID.
