Rescue Crews Use Jaws Of Life In Crash

Some frightening moments for an East Texas man today, after rescue workers say he crashed his pick-up into a dump truck parked at a stop light.

It happened around 2:30 p.m. at the intersection of Highway 155 and the Southeast Loop in Tyler.

The drivers' feet were pinned in during the impact. Crews used the Jaws Of Life and got him out in only five minutes. Toni Gumber with the Tyler Fire Department says they train for this type of scenario frequently.

"I thought it went very well. We practiced this exact same incident about two weeks ago at the drill field, and it went textbook perfect today," says Gumber.

The identity and condition of the driver of the trapped man are not known at this time. The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.
