Longview ISD Superintendent Resigns

An East Texas superintendent resigns after months of contract negotiations. In an Executive Session Monday night, the Longview ISD School Board evaluated and discussed Dr. Dana Marable's contract. After an hour and a half behind closed doors, the Board announced their acceptance of her resignation.

Four members were "for" accepting her resignation, two were "against," and one member "abstained." Dr. Marable has been serving as superintendent for nearly four years now. She says she is pleased with her tenure at LISD.

"It's just time. It's time in my career and the Board has been very gracious in accepting my resignation....this is a family. It truly is a family and we love each other and care about each other," Marable says.

Dr. Marable will serve as Superintendent until November 29. If the School Board has not picked an interim Superintendent by January, then she will serve as the interim until they find one.
