I'm sure you're familiar with the recent comments made by the newest co-host on ABC's The View.
I've got to tell you, when ABC announced her involvement with this show, myself, along with many of my peers, cringed. We knew the execs M.O. - hand-pick a radical, outspoken loud mouth, someone willing to come to work every day ready to stir the pot and most importantly get people talking.
Enter Rosie O'Donnell. And only a few days into her arrival she hits one out of the park. I bet the execs swooned when she stated, and I quote "Radical Christians are as threatening as Radical Islamists in this country."
I'm quite sure the phones at ABC lit up, as did ours. In the wake of the anniversary of 9/11, of America replaying the images of that day over and over, she hits a nerve.
Just know this. I don't agree with her position and I know most of you don't either.
Rosie's a bully. The same bully your kids deal with at school. And more than anything a bully wants to get noticed. To make the loudest argument on the playground. Well, she's bullied her way right out of lots of jobs. Comedian, talk show host, magazine editor. How does she keep getting these jobs?
Anyway, that's the good news-bullies always self-destruct. And so will she. It happened when you were a kid in school and it will happen here. The difference is, now that we're grown ups, we don't have to wait it out. We can actually help make that happen.
So let's agree to this. If you feel like I do, let our voices be heard. Let's show ABC that enough is enough. They've gone too far this time.
Send an email. No, send lots of emails to the address on your screen. Tell your friends, family and neighbors to do the same. Together, we can protect the playground we call home and make this a better East Texas.
And one other thing, when did we really start caring what celebrities have to say about matters of global consequence? Maybe Rosie should stick to telling jokes for a living.
Oh, wait. Those were nothing to laugh at either.
