Man Killed In Collision Involving 18-Wheeler

A head-on collision in Smith County between a car and an 18-wheeler killed a man. The crash happened on Highway 155 and Loop 49 around 7:30 p.m. Officials say the Chevy Beretta was heading north on 155 when it veered into on-coming traffic.   A Brookshire's truck collided with the vehicle, killing the driver. The 18-wheeler ended up in the ditch, and was destroyed by a subsequent fire. Officials say the driver of the truck was not injured.  North and south-bound lanes of traffic on Highway 155 at the intersection with Loop 49 were closed in order to clean the scene.  The name of the victim has not been released.
