City Of Tyler Creates Downtown Working Group

A vibrant downtown is what they're hoping to create.   Tyler Mayor Joey Seeber announced Wedensday the formation of a downtown working group that will work to bring housing, business and entertainment downtown. It's part of the Tyler 21 plan. The group says its goal is to find Tyler's uniqueness to attract people to come downtown.

"We want to be able to attract all ages of people to move into Tyler," said Mike Butler, Chair of Downtown Working Group. "We have a great success record of being a retirement community, but what we want to do is look at the idea of how do we attract the college graduates to young 30 years old, provide an alternative to moving to Dallas or Houston or San Antonio."   Mayor Seeber has also formed a Historic Preservation Working Group that will work to enhance Tyler's historic heritage. Both groups will start meeting at the end of the month.
