East Texans Enjoy Agriculture History Lesson

You didn't need big muscles to win a strength competition in Whitehouse today. You needed a good engine.   The Lone Star Antique Tractor and Engine Association held its sixth annual Tractor Pull Competition today.

Participants say it's not about the driver, but the condition the tractor is in. Antique machines were on display as well, like ice cream makers and 1940 case thresher.

"This is us," said President of Lone Star Antique Tractor and Engine Association Charles Parmley.  "All of us. This country was founded on agricultural principles and Democracy went with it, but we all come from people that worked the land. Thanks goodness we don't have to do that anymore."

The Lone Star Antique Tractor and Engine Association began in 2000 to preserve machinery important to our nation's farming industry.
