Funeral Arrangements For Local Marine

Funeral arangements have been set for a Tyler marine recruiter killed in a weekend car crash.

31 year old Staff Sergeant Jeffrey Pattberg of Sulphur Springs was drving between Troup and Jacksonville Friday night. He was ejected after his car ran off the road, hitting several trees.

Pattberg was stationed in California and served a tour of duty in Iraq before joining the Tyler Navy and Marine Recruiting Office.

Sergeant James Taylor says this morning was very emotional for them, as condolences poured in from around the country.

"He was a good family man. He was a good marine. He loved the Marine Corps. He loved his family. He loved just doing the daily things that go along with being a Marine, a husband and being a father. He really loved his son," says Taylor.

The wake for Staff Sergeant Pattberg has been set for tomorrow at the West Oaks Funeral Home from 6:00 to 9:00 pm  on South Hillcrest Street in Sulphur Springs.

The funeral will be Thursday morning at 10:00 a.m.  at St. James Catholic Church on Texas Street in Sulphur Springs.  Pattberg leaves behind his wife Valerie and their 1  and a half year old son Colby.
