4-Year-Old Hit Twice After Man Tries To Save Him

A 4-year-old boy remains in a Dallas hospital after being hit by two cars. The accident happened late Saturday near Alpine and East Marshall Avenue in Longview.

Police say 4-year-old Bryan Lara wandered out into the street and was hit by a car. That's when 21-year-old Cain Santiago ran into the street, grabbed the little boy, and was then hit by another car that fled the scene.

Both were taken to Good Shepherd Medical Center. The child was later airlifted to Dallas. Santiago has suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A witness to the accident says the whole ordeal was unbelievable. Sharee Chancelor, who witnessed the accident, says"it's like so surreal you cannot believe it happened...you don't see a child lying in the middle of Highway 80. I've never seen anything like that."

Police say the car that left the scene was silver.  They are asking anyone with more information about the vehicle to contact the Longview Police Department.
