East Texas Organization Receives Ten Thousand Dollars

Ten thousand dollars was presented to local food bank to help feed East Texans.  Congressman Louie Gohmert presented the check today to the East Texas Food Bank. The money comes from the Texas State Society, a group of congressional members. They chose the food bank because of the organizations generosity to evacuees during the hurricane disaster relief.

"It's great," said Robert Bush, Executive Director East Texas Food Bank. "It actually gives us some momentum going into the fall season when demand for food is up. Demand in East Texas is up about 20 percent, demand for our food, and so we have a great need for all the food and funds we can get."   Another group is helping the East Texas Food Bank. The Tyler New Crazy Quilters. For the last year, members have been working on the quilt. The pineapple pattern quilt will be raffled and the money raised will go toward the food bank.   Raffle tickets are $1.00, or 6 for $5.00. You can get them at the East Texas Food Bank.
