Ramsey Suspect's Former Child Bride Speaks Out

A former wife of JonBenet Ramsey murder suspect John Karr - a woman who married him more than 20 years ago when she was just 13 and he was 19 - talked about her ex-husband in an exclusive interview on "Good Morning America" today.

Queintana Shotts, says she met Karr at a party when she was 12 and he proceeded to seduce her "I believed he loved me" she told GMA. The marriage lasted less then a year, a year during which Shotts said she was often "drugged" and physically and emotionally abused.

Shots told GMA she wishes police would of intervened, like her parents had requested, "If the law would of done something, he would have something on his record maybe he would of been watched, I could of had help I wold of told waht happened to me"

Shotts also told GMA, Karr often talked about young girls. "He had fantasies about little girls, he would talk to me about", she said.

As Karr awaits extradition from California to Colorado to face first-degree murder charge and kidnapping charges in the 1996 slaying of the 6-year-old beauty queen, his first wife, Queintana Shotts, will talk to "Good Morning America" about their brief marriage.

Karr and Shotts met in Hamilton, Ala. and according to Shotts' parents, the two married in 1984 when she was 13 and he was 19. Her parents told ABC News that they were opposed to the marriage. they had a lengthy battle with Shotts' parents over his relationship with their daughter. The more the parents resisted the couple's plans, more defensive and even threatening Karr became.

In 1985, after nine months of marriage, Shotts filed for an annulment, complaining in court records that she was "fearful for her life and safety." In a response filed with the court, Karr contested Shotts' age, saying she was in fact 14. A judge later granted the annulment. Karr later married a second time, to Lara Karr, who was 16 when their twin daughters died the day they were born on Sept. 1, 1989.

In addition to first-degree murder, the counts against Karr in a sealed probable-cause arrest warrant include felony murder, first-degree kidnapping, second-degree kidnapping and sexual assault on a child. He could be transferred to Colorado within days.

Boulder, Colo. prosecutors have not revealed the evidence they have gathered against Karr, though critics have been skeptical about the truthfulness of his alleged confession because of inconsistencies between his statements and the circumstances surrounding JonBenet's slaying.
