East Texans Weigh In On Ramsey Murder Arrest

Since the murder of JonBenet Ramsey in 1996, there has been much speculation on who killed her.   Much of that speculation was over whether her parents, John and Patsy Ramsey, had something to do with her death.

Days, months and even years later... We all had our suspensions about who killed JonBenet Ramsey.

"I thought it was the parents or the brother," says Nancy Roney.

"Certainly not the parents in my opinion I never thought that way," says Herman Greutink.

"I initially thought it was an outsider," says Cheryl Britt.

Dr. Wade French, a licensed counselor, says there are reasons why the parents were looked at first.

"More parents kill there kids than strangers do, so they are the most likely suspects," says Dr. French.

He says the way John and Patsy Ramsey protected one another, it was perceived as if they had something to hide.

"After a year or two or three, it became in my thoughts that they probably didn't do it.  The fact that she was able to function fairly well, and endure this disease.  Both were able to function fairly well and they were able to stay together told me that it wasn't them," says Dr. French.

He says this case is a prime example of not jumping to conclusions.

"Don't get side tracked by your emotions about what you think is there, stay with the evidence," says Dr. French.

All agree, it's sad that JonBenet's mother didn't live to see an arrest.

"They went through all those years with people looking at them as though they were the suspect... It's too bad she died before they found out," says Doris Jarvis.
