Longview Woman Turns 100 Years Old

An East Texas woman celebrates her 100th birthday.   Friends and family threw Marguerite "Nellie" Whitehead a birthday party today at Buckner Westminster Place in Longview.

Nellie's family says she does two crossword puzzles a day to keep her mind sharp.  And she crochets blankets for Project Linus, an organization that donates blankets to hospitals for premature babies. Nellie has made 136 blankets to this day.

Her daughter Barbara Kiser reveals Nellie's secret to living 100 years..."she has always been able to take life easy, you know, she just absolutely is the most laid back person. We're just thrilled and the nice thing is that she's so healthy."

Nellie Whitehead has lived in Longview for the past 70 years.
