High Speed Chase Lands Man In Jail

A man is in custody after leading police on a high-speed chase in Smith County.   The chase ended in the 2,600 block of Frankston Highway in Tyler. That's two miles north of the loop.

The chase started in front of the Precinct 2 Constable's office, where officials say the suspect was clocked traveling at least 20 miles over the speed limit.   Officials say the chase reached speeds of up to 95 miles an hour.

The chase ended as the suspect tried turning left on to Noonday Highway from Frankston Highway in Tyler. The Honda Civic rolled several times but the driver, a man in his early 20s, was not hurt. The man is charged with evading arrest and detention, a felony charge.
