A Wet And Wild Time For East Texas Campers

It was a wet and wild time for dozens of East Texas adults with special needs.

Today was the big group waterslide event at Camp Kennedy in Lindale. Campers took turns on a good old-fashioned slip and slide. They also went canoeing and completed a low ropes challenge course.

Jacque Fowler, director of the Arc Of Smith County says that was very exciting.

"All of them have achieved the low-ropes challenge course. Now, that's a challenge for anybody and for them to do it is really an accomplishment," says Fowler.

Camper Alan Wood says, "I've been enjoying this Camp Kennedy very much this year. I've been enjoying the water slide, the swimming pool, and the canoes."

The camp costs $600 dollars a person. The Arc of Smith County pays for most of that, but they encourage campers to raise some of the money on their own. They say that gives them a sense of pride, but they never turn anyone away.
