Amazing Rescue Saves Three Men In Truck Accident

An amazing rescue this morning after an 18-wheeler nose dives into a ravine.  It happened on Interstate 20 East between Longview and Hallsville over Mason Creek around 5am.

DPS says a pick-up truck pulling a trailer full of bricks lost control.  That's when the driver of an 18-wheeler swerved to avoid being hit and crashed into the side of a bridge.

Once the 18-wheeler crashed it then tipped over the side, landing straight up.

Longview and West Harrison Fire Departments used the jaws of life to cut open the big rig and rescue the driver and two other passengers.

DPS Trooper Chad Turner says, "The people in the truck are very lucky to be alive. When I pulled up here honestly I didn't expect them to be, but they're all talking. We're very happy about that."

The man driving the pick-up truck suffered leg injuries and the 18-wheeler's driver and two passengers complained of chest pains and arm injuries.

The rescue took three and a half hours.  Meanwhile, I-20 was closed five hours for the rescue and cleanup.
