SWEPCO Donates Thousands to Salvation Army

Some Longview residents will soon have their electricity bill paid off.

That's because Southwestern Electric Power Company, or SWEPCO, wrote a check for 36,000 dollars to The Salvation Army.

The money allows The Salvation Army to help SWEPCO clients in need keep their electricity on, especially during these hot summer months.

Major Robert Winters of The Salvation Army says, "Folks are always happy when they leave here and know that their utilities are going to remain on, know that they're going to be able to keep their families cool so it's always a happy time when folks are able to leave here with that paid."

This is the thirteenth year SWEPCO has donated money to The Salvation Army, giving one and a half million dollars over the years.
