Four Penguins Die After Truckload Of Penguins Spill On Texas Highway

Four penguins died along with all the exotic fish being transported by truck to the zoo in Galveston, Texas.

The truck overturned on U-S Highway 59 near Marshall today. One penguin died in the crash. Three others were hit by passing motorists.

The penguins, exotic fish and other birds were being taken from their home at the Indianapolis Zoo to Galveston while their exhibit space is being renovated.

Twenty-one penguins survived, although some required treatment for minor injuries. A refrigerated tractor-trailer rig was summoned to pick up the survivors and take them the rest of the way.

The driver of the overturned rig was taken by ambulance for treatment.
