Second Fatal Shooting In Longview In 24 Hours

Police in Longview are investigating two fatal shootings  less than 2 miles away from each other, within a 24 hour period.   Just after midnight, Thursday night, 31 year old Travtrice  Mitchell's body was found shot to death at a home on Walnut street.
Sometime, the night before, 25 year old Alfonso Hall was fatally shot in his home. The two locations are less than two miles away from each other.
Now Police are trying to calm a very uneasy neighborhood.   "If it was my neighborhood I'd be concerned but it's not time to panic we don't know exactly what occurred yet" said Longview police sergeant Carlos Samples.
Some believe drugs and gangs are behind the violence.  "One side of town goes to this side the other side goes over there , gang bangers scared of those too, sometimes there's drive-by shootings that don't seem to be able to catch up with them, whoever doing it , so I'm very concerned about that," said area resident Betty Madden.
Police say a black male was seen leaving Mitchell's house this morning before the body was found. Walnut street neighbors say there's constant drug and violent activity in their area, and they're scared.
"We're afraid that they don't know where they're going to try to break into our place or do something to us , something like that , very concerned to put some more police patrols for down here" Madden says.
Others are angry saying police are not telling them anything.  "The worst thing we could do is actually give information that is incorrect , we need to be patient and let detectives finish the investigation" said Samples.
So far, no arrests or suspects have been identified in either case.
