COPY-Space shuttle Atlantis begins trip to launch pad

KENNEDY SPACE CENTER Space shuttle Atlantis is inching its way to the launch pad in Cape Canaveral, Florida.

The four-mile trip began shortly after 1 a-m Eastern and is expected to take less than eight hours. The trip was delayed twice earlier this week because of bad weather.Atlantis hasn't flown since October 2002. Its mission is to resume construction of the international space station.The deadly Columbia accident in early 2003 halted all expansion of the orbiting space lab and forced a reduction in the crew size from three to two.
