It's almost time to head back to school and that's why some East Texas organizations are making sure students are prepared.
Longview's First Baptist Church, Junior League, and Buckner Family Services kicked off their fourth annual School Supply Train.
Smiling kids received brand new backpacks full of school supplies. Students could also get an eye exam and a haircut.
Pastor Tim Watson of the Longview First Baptist Church says, "The basics of going back to school is a huge financial cost to families and we're just trying to ease the burden on East Texas families."
If you missed it today, the train is also going on tomorrow from 8 am to noon at the First Baptist Church of Longview's Recreational Outreach Center. Supplies are available for students in grades Pre-Mk through 12th. Parents should bring--a picture ID, proof of enrollment, proof of income, and a medicaid card if your child receives medicaid benefits.
