World Cup Star Clint Dempsey Returns To Lone Star State

He was the only American to score a goal for Team USA in this year's World Cup. This weekend, this East Texan and one of soccer's rising stars was back in his home state.

Clint Dempsey of Nacogdoches is back in the US playing with his team the New England Revolution. The Revolution took on the Houston Dynamo in Houston Saturday night.

Clint is becoming a popular figure in the sport of soccer. He is the first East Texan to play in the World Cup.

"I was happy about was just seeing my family and friends," he said of being home.

Clint also talked about his rising influence on the sport of soccer. "It is good that I can be any type of inspiration to anybody. All I want to do is play the sport I love to play and if that influences other people then that's great."

Clint will play in the Major League Soccer All-Star game. That will be held on August 5th. He will also continue to be a part of the national team.
