Israeli Educator In East Texas Speaks About Middle East Conflict

One of Israel's most well respected educators was in Tyler tonight speaking to Congregation Beth El.

Dr. Yehuda Bar Shalom is the author of the upcoming book Educating Israel:Multicultural Perspectives In Israeli Education.

He lives in Jerusalem. His family is in Haifa, and he says he is deeply worried about their safety, and how the conflict will end.

"I hope that the U.N. intervenes, maybe sends some of their forces to the border in order to create a separation between us and Hezbollah. I'm really worried because these forces are taking over the official foreign policy of rational Arab countries. It doesn't make any sense," says Dr. Bar Shalom.

Dr. Bar shalom says in Israel, he works very closely with many Israeli-Arabs. One projects is a school where Jewish and Arab students, together, learn arabic and hebrew. His message to the congregation tonight is that there can be peaceful coexistence.
