ETBU’s Chad Glover named preseason All-America

MARSHALL, Texas - East Texas Baptist University senior defensive end Chad Glover has been named to the 2006 D3football.com Preseason All-America team as one of eight players chosen to the team from the American Southwest Conference.

Glover, who was named to two different All-America teams following last season, is the all-time sack leader in the ASC with 28 entering his final year at ETBU. He is currently fourth on the Tigers' all-time tackles list, with 187.

Last season Glover  finished third on the team in tackles with a career-high 77. He also had a career-high 11.0 sacks, with a career-high 20 tackles for lost yardage. The Whitehouse, Texas, native also recovered two fumbles and had two interceptions, one of which he returned for a touchdown.

Following the season he was named to both the American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) and Don Hansen's Football Gazette All-America teams. He was also named All-Region by both Football Gazette and d3football.com.

Glover was also the 2005 Co-Defensive Lineman of the Year in the American Southwest Conference.

Glover was a second-team pick on this year's D3football.com Preseason All-America team. He is joined on the team by center Josh Knox, cornerback Will Galusha and defensive end Reggie Robinson of Hardin-Simmons; safety Josh Kubiak and punter Hunter Hamrick of Mary Hardin-Baylor; punter Jonathan Russell of Mississippi College; and kicker Holt Storrie of Texas Lutheran.

ETBU reports for preseason workouts on Aug. 13. The Tigers' season opener is set for Saturday, Sept. 2, at 6 p.m. against Trinity University in San Antonio. ETBU will then host Ouachita Baptist University at 2 p.m. on Sept. 9 in the Tigers' home opener.
