The trial of a man accused of shooting a D.P.S. trooper in Smith County is set to begin tomorrow. Jury selection has been completed in the case of 38-year-old Ramon Ramos. He is charged with 14 counts of aggravated assault on a public servant.
Ramos and his alleged accomplice, Francisco Saucedo, are accused of wounding Trooper Steven Stone during a shooting in March. Prosecutors say the pair led police on a high-speed chase, and fired shots at 13 Tyler police officers.
If convicted, Ramos faces life in prison.
