Caldwell Zoo Gets New Arrival

He's six feet tall, 125 pounds, and just a week old.   He's the Caldwell Zoo's newest arrival, a baby giraffe named Gus.  Gus was born last Saturday, the zoo's first baby giraffe since 2001. His mother, Ethyl was actually the last giraffe born at Caldwell Zoo. Giraffe's give birth standing up, leaving the newborn calf to fall five to seven feet to the ground.   You can see Gus in the East Africa Exhibit at Caldwell Zoo in Tyler. You may want to come soon because Gus will grow five to six inches every week.
