Texas' first lady, Anita Perry made a stop in Tyler this afternoon to talk to the women of Marvin United Methodist Church. This is Mrs. Perry's second visit to Marvin United Methodist last year she and the Governor stopped by and met with Katrina evacuees. Today, she said she was proud of the generosity and kindness shown by members of the church. Perry also talked about the health of Texans and how women need to take care of themselves.
"It's never to early to talk to your daughters as mothers," said Perry. "I talk to my daughter. It's very important we talked to them about issues particularly that affect woman, breast cancer, Alzheimer, immunizations. As a mother I think that is very important." In Perry's honor today, United Methodist Women, a group that is committed to helping women and children, is donating $500 to an orphan in Russia that needs eye surgery.
